Does anyone know how to personalize a Care Plan so it will show up on the Action Plan or Care Plan?
I find myself needing to write individualized instructions like “Your Peak Flow Range is 265-381”
You can add a note that only you can see, but not one that the patient can see.

Unbelievably long hold times to get to Customer Service
Anyone else noticing that it takes 15-20 minutes on average to get to an operator on the customer service line? The wait to get to a person is unacceptable! Once you get through to a person, the technician you are trying to call back is “not available’ so you end up waiting for a call back . . . . and when that doesn’t happen, you start the whole process over.
Did they lose a bunch of staff or something? It wasn’t this way a year ago.
So frustrated!!!
Physical Therapy Users
Anyone out there have a PT/OT department using ECW?
We go live on the 29th. We are going to use Scribe so I have created several macros to assist in documentation for providers. For the examination I created structured data for special tests and ROM, MMT, etc.
What is the mechanism to get an assistant’s signature on the progress note? I know they can reassign the note to the evaluating PT for sign off.
What is everyone doing for an exercise log? Version 11 solution to add every exercise known to man seems cumbersome. I have debated about using macros through scribe, but you can’t get them to populate in Therapeutic Interventions because there is not a notes section or header for that section in Scribe. Thanks,

Commonwell Health Alliance and Care Quality
Does anyone have Commonwell Health Alliance or Care Quality working yet on your systems? We had a patch for Care Quality installed and have selected Epic hospitals in our state but haven’t seen anything pop up in eCW yet. Was just curious to see if others had any success with either interopertability options.

Request for DSM Criteria
I know there may not be a lot of psychiatrists out there using EClinicalworks, but is there anyway to integrate the DSM criteria (at least for major disorders) without having to retype it all in? If not, I am pushing for EClinicalworks to adapt itself a little more to psychiatry.
11E Document Management - Fillable Forms and Electronic Signatures

We went live with 10e in Jan 2018 and upgraded to 11e in April 2018. We are exclusively web client users. Since our implementation, neither eCW, Topaz or Scriptel can show us how we can efficiently manage forms in eCW, whereby we can auto-populate standard consent forms and have patients e-sign them. The current process with Scriptel pads is cumbersome and inefficient, and we also ruled out Topaz pads. We’ve revered back to printing forms and scanning, which flat out stinks. eCW has yet to provide a viable solution other than continuing to offer ecliniforms, which do not allow for any fillable fields (check boxes, radio buttons, free-text text fields).
Question is what are other 11e sites doing? Has anyone been able to go paperless on 11e with e-signature pad products or third party solutions?
Would appreciate your feedback.

In the Lab/DI/Procedure in the “Information” area of the order, how can we change the items in the drop down menu for the “Reason” area?
Is there anyway to change/pre-set these?

V11e - Users reset forgot passwords
Our upgrade is scheduled two weeks from now. Probably the feature I’m looking forward to the most is this feature. It has become a part time job for me unlocking and resetting user’s passwords. Can someone using this feature provide some insight as to how the feature is working, is it working as designed, bugs, etc.. If it’s not working maybe just post a crying emoji to ease my pain.
Girish - HUGE patient safety issue with Medical History edits not saving
We are running the executable (V10 SP2.5.48). There is a huge patient safety issue where changes/additions to the Medical History are not saved. This happens in at least two extremely common and reproducible instances:
1) When you click on an existing line of the patient history to edit, edit the text, and then click on the white space below the last medical history line (see picture) to exit editing the line, the changes you made to the line show up on the Medical History popup, but do not save when you go back to the Progress Note.
2) When you click “Add” and add a line of Medical History, and then click on the blank space below the last medical history line you just added (see picture) to exit editing, the line you just added shows up on the Medical History popup, but is not saved when you go back to the progress note.
Example:
- Open a patient’s progress note
- Click “Medical History”
- Click “Add” to add a new condition or edit an existing line
- Type some important medical condition that you want saved to keep your patient alive “Severe unstable angina”
- Click anywhere in the white space below the the last medical history line (see picture) to finish your addition/edit
- Click the red X in the upper right to go back to the Progress Note
- Watch as nothing happens and your medical history change is lost
This is probably the scariest thing I’ve seen with eCW. I’m pretty sure I’ve noticed the effects of this for years, because I’ve had assistants tell me that they added something to the medical history or changed a line, but it wasn’t there when I reviewed it. However, I was only able to figure out how to reproduce it recently. How much crucial information has been lost, and how much patient harm has this caused?
Having a computer science degree myself before my dental degree, I’d consider bugs like this indefensible. Clicking away from the cell you are editing in a spreadsheet program to save the changes you just made is common user behavior (this is my behavior almost 100% of the time to make sure my change got saved). The white area below the medical conditions is one of the most logical places to click to prevent you from editing another line. The fact that the change registers in the popup also indicates to the user that the it was acknowledged. To have it then fail to save on the progress note is unbelievable.
My other concern regarding safety issues in general is the way in which they are tracked and processed. I tried to search for this issue on my.eclinicalworks.com, but the list of issues unnecessarily truncates the majority of the title of the issue (e.g. “Patient Safety Advisory: Browser Only - Global Alert Notes Information… NEW”) while leaving empty space to the right of “NEW” where it could have finished the title. It doesn’t even display the full title when you hover over it. Even more incredibly, the search function doesn’t actually search the full title or body of the issue, it only searches the truncated title! Finally, to have significant issues sit around on that list for months with the proposed solution “Don’t trigger the bug” and the status “We’re working diligently on it” is very concerning.
I’m posting this here for a few reasons:
- To see if others can confirm what other versions have the same issue
- To make others aware of the issue
- I don’t have privileges to initiate cases from my.eclinicalworks.com
- When I report something over the phone, I’m either told that it is expected behavior or a known issue that is fixed in the browser version
- Our SAM usually monitors the forum
- I’d like to know (preferably from Girish) how things like this happen
Am I overreacting? Isn’t there some significant oversight on eCW due to the settlement and previous safety issues? Obviously the handling of current patient safety issues isn’t working, so what can we do? The integrity of medical records, particular medical histories, should be the number one priority of an EHR. If my PCP used eCW, I would absolutely find a new office, no matter how good he/she was.
V11 “Appointment already exists” warning
I thought I already saw on a post on this (perhaps even made it myself) but I cannot locate it. Are other people getting the attached warning whenever you attempt to modify an EXISTING appointment? The system appears to not be looking to see if the appointment that is already scheduled is the same appointment you are in currently. Any work around?
Anyone using eCW Dental?
We’re currently using Dentrix but are seriously considering using eCW Dental to try and consolidate all our software. Does anyone here use it? What are your thoughts or recommendations?
Will we be able to import all our dental records from Dentrix into eCW? And is this included in the free importing of preexisting EHR data into ECW that they promise?

V11 Patches
Hi,
Has anyone else received the patch for V11 EXE (Consolidated Sec Patch for Version 11)??
We are told it “is important that we apply these patches immediately” and then are given a list of 15 things to test after installing the patch. This is a little scary! Especially because we have asked ECW what this patch is changing or what it is for and nobody seems to want to divulge that information. Basically just install the patch and hope for the best.
I am so hoping someone else on V11 EXE can tell me what this patch entails and share anything that will help us pre-patch installation.

I am interested in being able to see how often (if any) browsable keywords in the treatment section (or other treatment sections if possible ?) have actually been used in progress notes (see attached).
I looked through eBO metadata unsuccessfully….
Any thoughts?
In Progress Note L Column Diagnoses List
In ECW, v10>Progress Note>HPI>L column list of diagnoses>Is there any way to remove these tabs, from the Progress Note, once they have been clicked/chosen?
In other words, once I have chosen a diagnosis from this menu, and the tab appears in the Progress Note, can I delete that tab from the Progress Note?
I don’t see a way to do this.

Lab results field
Does anyone have the lab results field as free text? Ours is free text but it also has a drop down listing “Abnormal, normal, etc…” Providers and MA’s are free texting lengthy explanations and things other than a simple result in this field.
This field also populates on the patient portal and can be confusing when the staff enter medical terms instead of it saying “abnormal” or the like.
Any way to lock this field down?
V10SP2 users upgrade to V11
Anyone else getting blown up today with urgent notifications from eCW to upgrade to V11. Apparently we will lose eRX capability if we don’t upgrade by Jan 2020….
