V11 “Appointment already exists” warning

I thought I already saw on a post on this (perhaps even made it myself) but I cannot locate it. Are other people getting the attached warning whenever you attempt to modify an EXISTING appointment? The system appears to not be looking to see if the appointment that is already scheduled is the same appointment you are in currently. Any work around?

I think I know the answer to this, but I thought I would ask anyways.

Is there any way to do this?

Printing “Rx Education Materials” generates a lot of paperwork.

Interoperability Hub Feedback

I’m looking for feedback from the community on the Interoperability hub. I was very interested in this at the conference and it seems that it would be very useful. Have practitioners/providers found it to be a useful resource? Has it caused any extra headaches or bugs in the system?

Limiting Hub access

The HUB has a large menu organized as buttons and others such as drop down access. These are exclusive to HUB such as Fax log (for the particular patient), Account Inquiry, share by P2P, Action, etc. Since I upgraded to Version 11. If I have the hub open create a TE and then when I try to open another HUB to check on a different function such as Account Inquiry, Referrals, Fax Log, Billing alert the ecw support refuses to allow me view the HUB with a message popping up saying that I can’t open another instance!

Due to this I am not able to quickly check on the patient details at various areas. It has affected workflow and slowing me down. When I called ecw support to disable this warning, was told that it can not be done. Has anybody else noticed this and how do you feel about this backward step in functionality?

Please feel free to chime in so that ecw reconsiders this change and brings back the functionality of being able to open multple instances of HUB or create a workaround by offering these menu items easily accessible in different windows.

Do you use it?

We had this activated as part of our V10 upgrade, or SP2, I cannot remember now. Due to provider complaints we ended up shutting this off. This has been a bit of a touchy subject since, we want it on to control the integrity of the record, the providers say it adds too much work. Have you found it to be too detrimental to turn on? Do you find any place in particular that it’s entirely unusable? What are your work arounds? I just saw a older post that talked about patient portal, does this lock cause issues with sending messages to patients with old notes or other things that you may have removed before that you cannot now?

Hello everyone, we are currently in the process of implementing an EMPI (master patient index) project and QuadraMed has been selected as the vendor. Is there anyone who uses QuadraMed with eCW? We are also interested to see if anyone who has an eHX in addition to eCW is using QuadraMed.

Any information/experiences would be appreciated!

V11e Speed

We have the fastest internet that Charter offers (we can’t afford fiber).  We have an updated modem.
V11e runs very slowly, hangs up, and crashes.
I use it at times because there are some features I like.  The bells and whistles aren’t worth all the headaches
it brings.  I find myself going back and forth to the EXE v11. 
My staff will not use the 11e. This “upgrade” has
been hard on morale. We are worn out from malfunctions, tickets, and excuuses. 
Any suggestions to speed it up would be appreciated.

Is anyone aware of a document or guide that compares the EXE Version to the Browser Version? We are looking into the browser option and would like to know the differences and additional capabilities that it offers.

2019 MIPS/PI Requirements - force V11 Upgrade

I haven’t seen this brought up but. If you are a part of MIPS, which I assume a vast majority of us are the new requirements mandate a 2015 CEHRT be used for at least the 90 day reporting period. V11 is the only eCW version compliant which forces us to upgrade. V11 is new and hasn’t had the best reviews. We are just fine on our current version and aren’t looking forward to this update.

Anyone have any insight on this, maybe they’ll make a newer version of 10e 2015 certified? I can see a giant influx of clinics upgrading second and third quarter of 2019 causing major headaches at eCW.

I would speculate maybe 10% of eCW’s client base is using V11, probably less?

Is eCW available on apple/MAC yet?  Any options for MAC users?

We have eCW throughout the office and home laptops.

One of our providers only has MAC at home.

Anyone know if eCW can be installed on MACs yet?

If not is there any solution that a MAC user can work on eCW?

Major problems after moving to cloud and V11 - ECW support unhelpful

Nightmares and extremely slow EMR after the move to the cloud. We are having to wait several seconds after each click. Taking twice the time to see each patient. Every day 2 or 3 patients are walking out of the waiting room because of long wait times due to SLOW EMR.
I went for the move to cloud when they offered me a 3-year contract deal for two providers (but later refused to add the second provider unless I paid extra for the second provider addition).
We were not told that the documents would not open quickly. Having to wait several seconds for each document to open and wait several seconds while ECW becomes “unresponsive”. They blame it on the size of the document but they should have either looked into this before the move to the cloud or compressed the document files on their end.
The installation MSI file to install ECW on workstations is very flaky. Leaves lots of setting changes to be made by the user later requiring hours of work to make setting changes of exceptions to the firewall and windows settings etc on each workstations.
It allows users to scan driver licenses in color without giving warning popups to limit the size of the documents to a certain size. Had no trouble opening color image documents when we had the server in-house.
ECW support keeps blaming us for slow internet speed when they had tested the speed prior to move and we checked our speed to be very fast at 100/20. They blame us for not changing all the settings on workstations when we have made them and showed them to the support staff.
I am now stuck between rock and a hard place. Have buyer’s remorse and highly frustrated :(
I started my practice with all charting on Wordperfect when people had handwritten charts. I used to create typed prescriptions and print them out. That was all that was needed to circumvent the handwriting issues (even though I have excellent handwriting) but they have created a monster out of the EMRs wasting the doctor’s time. No wonder the MDs that were close to retiring are retiring fast. If only the students enrolling in medical schools knew that they are headed to become clerks and not doctors, they would think twice. What a shame.
If I had created an EMR, it would be highly intelligent and interactive.


Suggestions on Tablets

I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on tablets that physicians use. My physicians like to have their digitizer pens to use but do not like touch screens, in which their finger can be used as input. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Home Visits - Trying to order medications

We have a provider who sees patients at home and we use the Home Visit Type.
However, when the provider goes to prescribe a medication we get a facility error due to no address.

In the facilities tab we don’t have a practice address for Home Visits.

Does anyone know if there is a proper way of doing this?

Hide “appointments” with no vitals entered?

Now that we have been using eCW a while, we have many patients with telephone and web encounters, as well as office visits.  Unfortunately, all of these telephone and web encounters are listed as a visit in the vitals “grid”.  If a patient has multiple TEs and not so many actual office visits, the provider must scroll to see the last set of vitals. 

I asked eCW chat agent if there was any way to hide the appointments for which no vitals were entered….nope mad

What to do with Unreconciled Past Meds?

What are others doing with the unruly list of Unreconciled Past Meds.  We are a multi-facility Practice with Specialties and Family practice and I have found recently that there are large number of these on the patients.  I am wondering what the best way to clean these up and what is the best process moving forward.  I am not finding any good documentation on the ECW regarding this.

INR flowsheet update - V11

Anyone using anticoagulant flowsheet in v11 ECW?  Do you like it and does it allow proper billing with the new 2018 anticoagulation billing rules by medicare with CPT 93792, 93793.  So far we basically are not using ECW for INR management and still with the manual.
