Heath Trackers Portal integration

$

Has anyone started using health tracking devices through the Portal? We were told recently that this feature was not available yet for client server practices.

I was just curious to see how useful that information has been to providers who do have access to it now.

Thanks,

Dave

Customizing Layout/Position of elements in Template

Hi,

In the processing of setting up ECW 10 for my office. How can I adjust position of each element and remove certain elements from the templates?

By Default:

Chief Complaint(s):
HPI:
Current Medications:
Medical History:
Allergies/Intolerance:
Surgical History:
Family History:
Social History:
ROS:

Physical Examination:

-Problem 2
-Problem 3

Plan:
Treatment:
-Problem 1: Recommendations, medications
-Problem 2
-Problem 3

In my case, I want the orders of the template elements to be below. I also what to remove hospital history. I also want to put a ‘results’ section that is below “Physical Exam”. However, that isn’t an option in the templates. There is a category for past results which is beneath vitals which I want to rename as “Results” and which I want to move to bottom of “physical exam”. I also want to have a free text area where I can provide some commentary to the overall clinical picture, rather than clicking on the individual problems in the plan section and typing one recommendation by each problem.

Virtual Visits

I thought I recalled that eClinicalWorks was going to incorporate technology to have real time virtual visits with patients via video such as secure Skype or something similar.  Is anyone aware of where we are with that technology?  We are going to be participating, hopefully, in CPC plus and are wanting to develop more non-face-to-face visit capabilities.

has anybody come up with an easy way to track “continuity of care”?  I.e. denominator equals all my patients seen in a certain time period - numerator equals how many of those patients were actually seen by me.

Physician Leaves

I am trying to come up with a check-off sheet for the steps that should be taken when a provider leaves the organization.

I know when we deactivate his account most of the options will be covered however we still have claims that have been be sent out so I can not make him inactive at this time.

Here is what I got…

Change Password.
Remove HEALOW profile
Remove pic off website
Stop messenger
Remove access to emobile
Deactivate his control substance token
End his working hours on Resource schedule.
Remove Portal options for appointment and messages

How do I deactivate for P2P or I have to wait until I get clearance from billing?
I know I am missing stuff…Just can think of all the bits and pieces until we make his profile inactive.

We would like to add a statement to each visit summary concerning orders that were written.  Can someone give me some options? We don’t want to have to copy and paste this statement into each visit summary that we print.  eCW states that there is no option to add a statement to the visit summary.
thank you

VISIT SUMMARY/PERSONALIZED INSTRUCTIONS Ideas

1. Our care team reviews the VISIT SUMMARY with the patient after they see me because we have a lot of very sick, insulin dependent diabetics who personalized care instructions when the leave the visit.

2. The only way to free text instructions for the patient at this point comes out jumbled/without format at the bottom of the
  medications

3. THE MEDICATION SECTION ON THE VISIT SUMMARY IS NOT USEFUL FOR OUR PURPOSES-the starts and stops are confusing to our patients.  There is no central formal list of everything they are taking in one place.  For peds or patients with one or two meds, that format might be helpful. When they have numerous meds, it gets very confusing-esp for seniors

4. We create a medlist for the future visit and print it out as a ‘CLEAN MEDICATION LIST” for them to take with them (we would love to be able to alphabetize the list).

5. If we leave off the MEDICATION SECTION off the VISIT SUMMARY, the custom instructions under each dx do not appear.

6.  I have added a section called CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS VISIT under the PREVENTION SECTION.  It still cannot be formatted, but at least it is clearly visible to the patient.  I’ll keep you posted.

Looking for advice/reviews on converting from self-hosted to cloud

Good morning!

We are a large practice with over 40 providers and around 400 staff members, who are considering switching to cloud. We have asked eCW for a list of users who are currently on cloud, who converted from self-hosting, that would give us a review/recommendation, but they have not provided this to us yet. So, I am trying to come up with groups on my own.

We would love a few minutes of your time, preferably on a phone call, with our CEO, CMO, and our Application specialists, so we can hear what your experience has been like, and some of the details of what works, what doesn’t, etc.

If you would be willing to do so, please comment below smile

We are primarily looking for large practices, and we are a primary care practice ourselves, but we also have specialists, so that would be helpful, too.

Thank you!

Mediscan and New Maryland Licenses

Are there any practices in Maryland having trouble getting the new Maryland license to scan properly to extract the license photo?  We are using the Mediscan Card Scanners (Model 800DX) and the license is not being recognized.  eCW states we need to call Medicscan however the problem is occuring inside the eCW application.  If you have resolved this issue, please let us know what you did.

RHC Flu Shots

Hello I work at a Rural Health Clinic.  We have several scenarios for flu shots.  We cannot bill traditional Medicare for beneficiaries who receive the flu vaccine as we are reimbursed through our cost report for influenza and pneumonia vaccines.

We do need to bill Medicare Advantage plans for these immunizations as they are not reimbursable on the cost report.

We have VFC which requires us to bill a penny for the vaccine and bill the administration fee but we are not paid for these.

We then have our “commercial” insurance that we will bill for vaccines.  We have fluzone and an under 3 vaccine.  How do you handle all of these different billing scenarios with one lot # (two lot #s for all the influenza we have in house).

We have templates setup for the flu vaccines that will automatically populate the correct CPT code.  But are there any other RHC’s out there and how do you keep track of who you can bill for and who you can’t or do you just do it on a claim by claim basis?

SP1C-20.3 upgrade impressions/issues

$

Ten days ago we upgraded to SP1C-20.3. The aftermath?

Speed is the same (we are locally-hosted).

The ICD-9/ICD-10 icons are a nice feature.

Users will have to upgrade their workstations at the first login after the upgrade. Ours all took 45-90 seconds, even at remote locations with poor Internet more than 500 miles away.

Problems?

1) Document previews (Reports button for faxed/scanned results, for example) were unreadable. After several days, it seems to have been resolved.
2) When writing new prescriptions, the popup below appears. eCW says once you set the NDC, it should stick, but it doesn’t. You need to do it every time. Our providers have adapted by blowing past it and not setting the NDC and things appear to still be going fine electronically. It is, however, concerning.
3) Outgoing faxes broke. Has since been fixed.
4) We had a template loaded for our Claims Summary with our logo and provider/tax ID, which broke, just like it did when we went to C7 last summer. Since resolved.
5) The new Security feature enabling the ability to restrict users’ ability to delete meds in the Med Rec window come with all users disabled. You will have to select those users with permission.
6) You will need .Net 4.5 installed on each workstation. We update .Net routinely through Windows Update so it wasn’t an issue for us.
7) The default for the Med Summary in the right chart panel is set at “Medication.” Your users will need to go into their My Settings and change it back if they used “Date.”
8) The Sel button has been removed from the Progress Note.
9) You cannot add a new item/property to a medication from the popup when prescribing. The hyperlink does not save the change, nor can you edit it the Strength or Formulation by making it a Favorite.

All things considered, it could have been worse, but also it could have been better.

The Document preview issue was a little frustrating. If you have the issue, don’t let the Engineer tell you all settings are fine but nothing can be done. You’ll have to push a little because they finally did change something to make it work.

Order sets for practice created alerts

When we set up a practice created alert, we have the ability to link an order set.  However when accessing the CDSS function while in a patient chart, the order set does not show up next to the practice created alert like it does with the CDSS alerts that are based on measure sets.  Does this functionality exist and if so, how do we make it work?  We would like our providers to be able to access the associated order set directly from the CDSS practice created alert/generic practice alert screen.  Thank you.

PDF Viewers

We have always used PDFs for scanning, faxing, and encrypted emails. eCW is not very friendly with pdfs.

We don’t use internet explorer in our office and I discovered that only way to properly view pdfs in eCW if an pdf viewer with an Internet Explorer add-on is installed. Even after getting the add-on installed with the Internet Explorer browser (which is hassle of its own), it would crash on the Documents > Patient Documents > Scan Docs window.

We use PDF X-change PRO - a lite, fast PDF viewer. We tried Adobe, Foxit, and a couple more. They all crash this window on various workstations.

Any pdf viewer recommendations?
