In V11, they grayed out the USER Settings button to default YES - Automatically add previously associated assessment when Rx is continued.
While it’s a nice convenience I always had that kept that off because I consider it Medicare upcoding. If I see for chronic problems like HTN or DM or CAD, I like to insert the meds under the correct section for the patient in my encounter. but if they return for a sore throat next week, and I hit continue all meds, it automatically adds their previously link assessment to that med, even though I only saw and treated them for sore throat. I may not even have checked their BP for vitals that visit. When I just saw them for sore throat, not DM or CAD or HTN. I don’t want that on my claim. I did not assess it. Now all my encounters are “upcoded” when I want to continue past meds and ECW will not ungray out the box.
I spoke to ECW and they don’t get this is a medicare compliance issue. Just because I said continue Diovan, doesn’t mean I assessed their HTN at the visit.
