Covering provider - refills

When a provider has refilled a medication for another provider while on vacation, it comes back to the covering provider the next month. When we try to send in a refill, it shows that covering provider as the PCP and as the covering provider, so when we send on Dr. X’s behalf, it denies one under him and creates a new one under the covering provider.

I did a search and this topic came up but the post was from 2011 and wasn’t fully addressed.
