Adding drawing to procedure templates

I created a template for a procedure and added a drawing to it.  I’m able to push it into the note and ink it (though there are only text and free hand options for inking (uploaded as a .tiff).  Even so I can ink on the drawing and click SAVE but when I open the drawing back up in the note (thumbnail) the inking did not save. Is anyone using templates with drawings loaded into them and can give me some input?  Thanks,
