Hi All,
I would like to see how others are handling this issue. I just had some Direct Addresses added to our system for a Cardiology practice, Urology practice and the local ATI Physical Therapy locations, which is great because it will help us with the HIE measure for MIPS. However, all of those providers and ATI Physical Therapy locations are already built in our Referring Physician dictionary so when sending a referral, the entries show up twice. This wouldn’t be TOO big of an issue, however, the system searches for the Referring Physician list first THEN it searches for the Direct Addresses so the ATI entries from the Referring Physician list show up on the first page and then you have to page down to find any Direct Addresses leaving room for staff to just select the entries that aren’t Direct. You can change the filter to only search for direct addresses but you can’t set that as the default option. I considered removing the entries from our Referring Physician dictionary, however, then you can’t look them up to add as a Referring or PCP in Patient Info and if you are trying to fax a document for consult note, the lookup does not look for direct addresses, it only searches the Referring Physician list.
Anyone else trying to work through this issue? Is your approach to train the providers and/or clinical staff to search the Direct Trust list FIRST and if they can’t find the provider to change the filter and search the local list? Another issue is the speed at which these direct addresses show up when searching for a provider with only 3 letters in the name. For example, I just searched for a provider with the last name of Cho. In order to speed up the process, you really need to type in the Last Name AND First Name, otherwise, it was took about 10 seconds to show any entries with the last name of Cho. Then the entries are not in any order so each time I hit the NEXT button, it takes a few more seconds to load. I finally found the provider on Page 4. I tried using the State filter to narrow it down but it still took about 10 seconds to load, however, the provider I needed was at least on the first page.
Would love to hear some feedback from others. I welcome any and all suggestions to help our workflow.
Thanks!!
