All our patient education is ordered through an order set under the “Patient Education” area. We have a bunch of scanned in PDFs. Our workflow is to click on the OS icon in the treatment tab, checkmark the appropriate PDF, then click order, then close the box. All this seems to do is write something in the Notes section of the treatment tab like: “Patient Educated with: PMG-ages 6 and above-ALL-2015.pdf (PMG-ages 6 and above-ALL-2015.pdf)”
I usually just use one or two of these PDFs that I already have printed. Can I just copy and paste that text into the Notes section and have it count for Meaningful Use, or is there some internal trigger that happens in addition to that text? Just copying and pasting (or making some presets in the Browse tab for the most used PDFs) would save me a lot of clicks.
What we are doing is counting for Meaningful Use, but I don’t know how eCW records this, or if there is a way that I can try this on a few patients and see if they are being counted in the denominator. Thanks!
