We just took the patches and upgrades to be in compliance with NCPDP. One huge issue we are hearing from one of the pharmacies we regularly send controlled II prescriptions to has said that the “replace” option is not working for schedule II because the “replace” sends these controlled meds to the pharmacy with a refill or continue status, vs a new or start status.
This is a big issue for us because we no longer have “Denied new rx to follow” in the e-refill screen. So, the only option we can see for now is providers saying “deny” and then creating a telephone encounter to send a new rx. Which is COMPLETELY clunky and not ideal.
Do any other practices have insight or experiencing this same issue? Any tips from a random super user or eCW knowledgeable person on here?
Thanks.
