Our pediatric practice was updated from 11.40 to V11.52.75.7 on Saturday 7/10/21.
Like many, we are attempting to adjust to the new script standard and Common Send workflow.
Our biggest concern is the “feature” adding the most recent height and weight entered in Vitals to any prescription sent. Our group collects and enters these vitals in centimeters and kilograms. Our vitals have been configured this way since live on eCW in 2011. Though the prescription posts the information correctly from the vitals section it then labels them incorrectly as inches and pounds.
Due to large concern that pharmacies will receive our scripts and misundersand the actual height and weight of the patient, we have been adding a note to the pharmacist on all scripts that height and weight are mislabeled and should be read as cm and kg.
Today we were told by eCW that this is a bug and that they cannot confirm or deny if pharmacies are receiving this misinformation. We’ve since called pharmacies after submitting scripts to check on our own behalf. We confirmed that HyVee receives patient height and weight labeled incorrectly. They also receive our note to the pharmacist *thank goodness*.
Unsurprisingly, we were given no ETA on how quickly this bug would be fixed. Our group - as I’m sure each of your groups would agree - believe this needs to be addressed immediately.
Upon discovery of this, I immediately escalated to our SAM. Now hearing that it is simply a “bug”- I have pushed again for deeper attention to this matter from the higher ups at eCW. I hope that this post will gain some attention from eCW and a fix can be issued immediately.
