Need some major help on this one and I can’t explain it very well.
Ex) A provider needs to order a “Soft tissue ultra sound right hip”. That exact nomenclature for the order is not in our DI compendium. What has been happening is the providers have been going in and creating that specific order along with any other order that has a very specific site, like “x-ray tip of right index finger”.. you get the picture.
The compendium and radiologist sees things by CPT and is more broad. So “lower extremity”, “xray hand”, “U/S Soft Tissue”... You can imagine the disaster.
It seems like an embarrassing basic question. How are you ordering DI’s? I can only imagine ordering the broad test and entering the details somewhere in notes? These orders are eFaxed and I can’t find a consistent notes field that transmits, not to mention there are tons of fields. Thanks for the help.
