We are in a dilemma. We are a large group of 24 clinics and work hand in hand with our hospital. We use eCW and our hospital uses Paragon. We register the patient by insurance card and the hospital by driver’s license. They are asking us to register by license, since that is considered a legal document, but doing so, if the insurance card reads a different name (Jr, or Jerry instead of Gerald, etc) then we get denied claims bc insurance cannot be verified. I’ve asked eCW for a resolution, but they say we must register by insurance card. I asked if there was a way to pull the insurance eligibility from the “Alternate Name” fields in the insurance window and the tech was unaware that these fields were there, so is checking on it, but I’m not holdin gmy breath.
What do you do in this case, if it happens, or do you always register the patient by insurance card?
