Recently insurance is paying for counseling sessions on ETOH, depression screening etc. There a way any part of the progress note can be configured such that it links to an ICD code. Is there any part of the note that’s link to a ICD or a CPT. For example, under PREVENTIVE MEDICINE, I enter our 2 question depression screen. It should then trigger cpt code depression screening. Or via the ICD/CPT explosion code set. However I need to figure out how to link a portion of the progress note to the claim. This way we do not miss all the codes we do screen for. Labs and DIagnostics can be linked. But what about procedures (ie ear cerumen removal, joint injection), physical exam (ie do a pelvic exam), history, PREVENTIVE medicine?
I ask ECW but they state NO. Then I assume there is a workaround some ingenious ECW users has figured out to capture all the charges properly.
