CMS and Appropriate Use Criteria Program

The radiology department at the hospital we send orders to has asked me to find out what are eCW’s plan regarding the CMS Appropriate Use Criteria program. It is proposed to go live 1/1/2018. Has anyone heard any rumblings about this?


editing and changing the order of medications in order sets

Once you add a medication to an order set is there any way to edit the entry (ie change the number of refills) or to change the order the meds are in?

We are creating a diabetes order set and entering the meds without finding a way to edit/re-order them is driving me bonkers.

changing the name of websites in Order Set Provider Education/Patient Education

In 11e Order Sets there’s the option to change the name of the website resource- which would be hugely helpful to indicate what the resource is rather than just looking at the URL.  We’re able to edit the name field but then the change doesn’t stick.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  Is it another known 11e glitch?

We’re putting in a ticket, but it’s always good to pick your brains and share our experiences!

We went live with the upgrade on 5/7/18. Since that date, we have only had 2 days where the system didn’t totally crash and we had to switch to paper. I don’t think the system was ready for prime time. I can’t even blame Humongous Care America for this one. They put in the stock version and have been working hard to keep it going.

Hi all,

I have a problem where certain notes have sections that are not clickable hyperlinks. In the first photo below, what I am looking at are the “objective” and “assessment” sections. How do I add clickable text below those like in the second pic?

I’d like to have a clickable section under assessment and a “treatment” section under the plan in addition to the “procedure orders.”

My note type is a “physical visit” for the good note and a “regular visit” for the one without the hyperlinks. I’d like to keep it that way since these are notes used by our therapist. For whatever reason, the “regular note” works just fine with hyperlinks for most therapy visit subtypes, there is just one type of visit it’s not working for.

Sample Medications and Tracking

I know there has been a few posts about Sample Medications and tracking but that was from a few years ago.

Does anyone enter in sample medications and tracking/lot numbers for samples if they do enter it into ECW.

I am thinking if we go this route, it would be a lot of work to maintain.

Thoughts…suggestions..

Past Results field of Progress Notes

How do your practices use the Past Results field of Progress Notes?  Currently we push past results into the field from the DRTLA tab of the RCP/ICW, as a way to prompt/indicate reviewing past results in the current visit.

Are there other ways to use it?

I have been using ECw since 2009.

I know there are features that I might not have enabled.

So here is my request.

WIth all the insurance needing HEDIS codes, BMI, etc - is there anything that will automatically add some of these codes (CPT and ICD) for me?

I have templates created to assist and a superbill created however they want it to magically appear.

For example, MA enters ht, wt and BMI is calculated.
Is there anything that will automatically put the appropriate ICD code for that BMI?

I can create a clinical rules engine however it only activates after DONE and my database is shared amongst various practices that will not use this option. so they will have another click to by pass.

Another request is when the PHQ9 is completed for it to populate the CPT.

Just trying to save the docs some clicks!

Is anyone utilizing the intelligent problem list in V11?  Is it only available in Browser?  We upgraded 7/23 and it’s not in our executable version

Anyone using the PDMP product in V11 yet? (Appriss Narxcare controlled substance report query)

Curious to see if it allows RN’s/MA’s to run the query while rooming the patient.

Also wondering if logging is working as expected.

Bug on Transition of Care

Is anyone else having an issue with Transition of Care button in V11? 

Periodically , when we go in , we will get a Blank Screen.  after that we get errors in the Appointment screens. 

Have to close out Ecw and get back in.  I have been told this is a bug.

FHx / Family History Moving Items Order

Using v11 (not desktop, the chrome version).

Has anybody noticed a problem with the FHx section - specifically the order of the items - see attached jpg.
I’ve talked to our IT department (we are part of a hospital, so I don’t have Admin access) and they say it is hard coded - so can’t delete any of the items - you can’t see it in the photo, but there are 2 sibling sections!

My IT department says the order of the items is hard coded and they can’t move them.

If eCW set these up as hard coded - why would they have Mother and Father so far apart?

The Paternal Uncle is listed at the top on the right panel and in the unlocked progress note, but when I pull up the window to edit the FHx section - Paternal Uncle is further down the line.

What is happening here?

How do I get the order of the items into a more logical order?
Mother
Father
Siblings
Children
MGM
MGF
PGM
PGF
etc

I don’t necessarily need to delete the items, just get them into a usable order.

I did find Community}Mappings}Family History—but it wasn’t clear that this would help with item order.

MAT (Medicated-Assisted Treatment)

Is anyone using ecw in a MAT program?  We are beginning our program shortly.  I have built the COWS form into structured data and built templates.  I’m thinking to use the programs within the PHM hub to track the enrollments.  This would enable us to track the currently enrolled as well as those that have been disengaged or discharged.  Any thoughts?  Would love to hear from others that have a program now with what works, what doesn’t, etc.

CPTs associated with no ICD

Is there any way a CPT could be in the billing field with no ICD WITHOUT someone having deleted the ICD?  We’ve tried ordering IH labs, IH procedures, typing CPTs into the billing fields- and eCW won’t let us put in the CPT without an ICD.

We’re trying to figure out if there’s an eCW workflow issue, or just staff re-education and re-training.

AWV Campaign Messenger - Insurance setup

We are looking into utilizing this but I have found that our insurance is setup incorrectly according to the setup document. The document states Medicare insurance must have MB (Part B) as the source of payment and ours is setup as MA (Part A) which is incorrect. This would also explain why our ‘Potential Reach’ only lists 9 patients when we should have close to 1000.

Can anyone check if their ‘potential reach’ is more accurate and their medicare is set to MB? Or maybe you just know it won’t work grin

EDIT: Was told by our billing company that since we are an FQHC we have to bill as a ‘MA’ or Part A for this section. Surely we aren’t the only FQHC who want to utilize AWV campaign messenger?

I know eCW has and supports their Kiosk APP that only works on an IPAD. Has anyone developed an Android based APP for the KIOSKS?

Has anyone turned on Active Directory Authentication in eCW?

I found a few other forum posts but nobody used the eCW option. 

I’m looking for workflows and potential issues with turn on the item key that allows AD SSO
