We receive many medical records on disc or flash drive. If received at the time of the patients visit, they are worthless to the physician because our staff needs to bring them to the EMR team first to scan for viruses. If they are ok, office managers/clinical staff then have to try and figure out how to upload it into ECW. We have an office manager that currently has a flash drive or disc with 377 pages that we can’t figure out how to upload without having to print and scan.
Many times a patient walks in with their x-ray on a disc. My physicians cannot view these until they are scanned. Lots of times this means we perform another x-ray which add to the expense of caring for the patient.
