I have a nurse asking a couple of question about managing the Current Medications list. Hoping someone here has some insight!
Question 1:
On eCW I cant seem to figure out how to delete medications on an open progress note. It is only letting me mark them as discontinued or not taking. Two examples of why I want to delete a medication: 1) A medication was listed twice in past notes – once under brand and once under generic name. 2) Patient record from 2019 pops up and old meds are on there and aren’t relevant. I can mark them discontinued but I would prefer to just delete them. Is deleting possible or do they not fall off until a med is marked discontinued and the note is saved?
In answer to this question, I let her know that she would not be able to delete medications, she would need to mark them Discontinued and could make a note indicating the reason. Which led to:
Question 2:
Is there any way to remove DC’s or inactive meds from the progress note?
Another example today was a patient taking an old medication but for a different reason and at a different interval so it can’t be deleted and must be added again to the list… Just messy without being able to delete and then add.
