Do you build designated double visits into your schedules?

I believe at my previous practice (Allscripts and Athena) our schedules were built with designated double sick visits and double well visits.  For example, my 2:20 and 2:40 slots were named DBL-WELL so that those appointments were reserved for siblings who needed adjacent well child visits.  Similarly, a pair of adjacent slots was named DBL-SHORT to reserve for double sick visits for siblings.

The advantage I see to this is that a valuable pair of adjacent visits isn’t inadvertently booked with a single patient, and the pair is broken up and not available for siblings who need it.

Do you build these double visits into your schedules?  If so, how do you do so, how well does it work with your Call Center/Reception staff, what challenges have you run into?
